High-quality cables, e.g. for telecommunications, are a valuable asset. This is why companies take precautions to prevent the theft of cable drums or to upgrade them so that their location can always be reliably detected.
In addition, the tracker we helped develop is used to improve internal logistics.
Our customer m2m has developed a product concept for such a tracker, which enables the localization of cable drums or other high-quality capital goods on a GSM basis.
We were responsible for developing an enclosure that ensures long-term, continuous outdoor operation even in the face of fluctuating temperatures and rain.
The housing concept has been extensively tested against moisture and vandalism, among other things.
We then produced a small batch of 500 units using additive manufacturing (HP Multi Jet Fusion) at our facility, and m2m performed the final assembly. Production using additive manufacturing allows for quick response times when it comes to design changes or sudden shifts in demand.
