IMD combines looks with functionality.
With IMD technology, we use a thermoforming process to form a design film printed according to your requirements and back-inject this film with a plastic material in an injection molding process. This film can already have conductor tracks for controlling the operating unit or we can add electronic components to the back-molded plastic part.
Until now, this technology could only be implemented economically in large-scale production runs. Through their own series of experiments, Hoffmann and Krippner have now developed a workflow that allows us to produce such components cost-effectively even for small and medium-sized production runs.
The advantages are:
- Complex technical parts with integrated operating functionality
- Elegant surface look and pleasant feel
- Various designs: matt, high-gloss or metal look
- Can be optimally combined with capacitive buttons, sliders or wheels
- Very easy to clean and disinfect
- High chemical and mechanical resistance
- Design highlights with additional lighting
- Lowered key surfaces for optimum finger guidance
- Decor protected against abrasion and fading
- Plastic cover lasts longer thanks to protective film surface
